Elastomers
Elastomers are polymeric materials, whose macromolecules are three-dimensionally, broad-meshed crosslinked in a chain or network. Rubber is the base material for elastomers.
An elastomer-compound is formed through adding further ingredients. This compound receives its typical elastic condition by vulcanizing (bonding of the macro molecules). Next to the notation elastomer the terms vulcanizate and rubber are used synonymously.
